EFSA examines safety levels of lead in foods

The European Food Safety Authority published its opinion on the health risks related to the presence of lead in food, this week on its website. In its opinion published on the 20 April, it found that current levels of exposure to lead pose "low to negligible health risks" to adults, however, it found potential concern over "possible neurodevelopmental effects in young children".
