No safety concern over the use of Gum Acacia as emulsifier for foods

In its opinion published on its website today, 7 April, EFSA has found no safety concerns over the use of gum acacia modified with n-octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA) for use as an emulsifier in various in foods. The opinion was delivered following a request from the European Commission for EFSA’s scientific opinion on the use of OSA modified gum acacia as an emulsifier for flavourings and other uses.
