MEPs vote for the mandatory declaration on front of pack for 10 nutrients
19 March 2010
The European Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) Committee voted for the mandatory nutrition declaration of the amounts of energy, fat, saturates, sugars, salt, protein, carbohydrates, fibre, natural and artificial transfats on front of pack, in its draft report on the Commission’s proposal for a regulation on labeling on the 16 March.
The report will now go before all the members of the European Parliament (EP) in Plenary for vote in May, where it will be decided whether the EP will go ahead with the mandatory declaration of the 10 nutrients on front of pack. EAS will be providing its full evaluation on the report within the coming days.
