About EAS

EAS was established to provide an expert and clear approach to solving regulatory issues in food and nutrition policy.  Recognising the needs of both the food sector and government to have access to experts from a range of professions, the Brussels office was created in 1992, today bringing together a group of specialists ranging from lawyers and political scientists to biologists, bioengineers and nutritionists.

With food regulation heavily based on science it is no accident that more than half of EAS’ 18 strong team have scientific backgrounds.

Over the past decade the evolution of EAS has to a large extent followed that of European and international food regulation and policy building a wide network with a strong basis in science.

A significant development in EU food policy came with the creation of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in Parma, Italy. The organisation, whose influence extends well beyond the EU’s borders, plays a crucial role in food and nutrition policy, and recognizing this, EAS launched its EAS Italy office in March 2007 to closely monitor EFSA's activities.

Internationally too, regulatory changes are impacting the market. Trade with Asia continues to rise, prompting EAS to launch its EAS Asia office in September 2007, which gives expert regulatory advice to both companies and government bodies in the region.

EAS works with trade associations, companies and government bodies, and has built a strong international reputation for delivering fast and accurate information, expert advice and solutions.
